Caroline Schep / Biography

Caroline Schep (1998)is a research assistant at the NIOD Institute for War, Holocaust and Genocide Studies, and at prof. dr. Herman Paul’s VICI project ‘Scholarly Vices: A Longue Durée History’. After obtaining bachelor degrees in History and Art History at Leiden University, the Netherlands, she is currently finishing her research master’s thesis there. She specializes in national identities, historiography and art history. On these topics, she has most recently published in journals such as National Identities and History of European Ideas. Several monthsthat were spent in Viennese archives and the supporting work she does for Leiden’s Foundation for Austrian Studies, have provided the inspiration and source material for this article.
